A. Internship Visa is to be discussed between the Foreign Intern and the hiring organization.
Many MNCs have internship work visa arrangement. But some local SMEs may not want the hassle to do the red tape paperwork to apply for internship work visa, therefore, local SMEs prefer to hire Locals.
Q. What is the internship allowance range?
A. It depends on individual organizations.
It may range from €110/ US$125 to €270/ US$300. Some NGOs and most Government internships do not provide any internship allowances. In Hong Kong, only 60% organizations give allowance, 40% do not offer allowance.
Q. Why is internship salary called allowance?
A. Legally, a regular monthly salary implies employment which is subjected to many Labour Laws and restrictions. An internship is not technically not employment, and therefore, an intern income is categorized as an allowance.
Q. Who pays for the air ticket and accommodation?
A. Usually the Intern or their parents need to pay for the air ticket and accommodation.
Q. Who will arrange accommodation in the internship city?
A. RICE package deals has an option to help you find the most suitable type of accommodation as close to your work location as possible. Alternatively, you can google search for accommodation by yourself.
Q. Is there an opportunity for the internship to turn into a long-term employment after your internship?
A. Yes. If the intern does favorably, there is an opportunity for long-term employment after the intern graduate.
Q. Is coronavirus (Covid-19) a serious problem in Asia?
A. No, only China has entire city lockdown restrictions, South Korea and Iran have serious problems (updated on 27th February 2020). The latest coronavirus figures varies a great deal between South East Asia countries and East Asia countries. Check with scmp.com and other reliable online news channel and beware of fake news and fear mongering of coronavirus. We expect coronavirus will die off before or during the summer months.
